Inner Beauty
Writer's Riddle II
It was dark, and everyone kept pushing, so many bodies making the temperature rise. This goes on for what seems like an eternity - the heat, the shoving.
Finally, something changes. There is a blinding brightness, as the hungry monster raids the warm beds.
Instead of pushing, there is shuffling, sorting. The groups look at each other for the first time, shocked at the ugliness of the others, knowing it exists with them as well.
Something is coming, taking away several, journeying to a new place with examinations.
Pain! Some parts are removed, changes take place. Will the scars show? Will the others laugh when they see the changes?
A shining, golden beauty approaches. "Do not be afraid," she whispers soothingly. "I, too, was ugly once." Unbelieveable! This luminous presence creates a feeling of humbleness and shame. She should not be exposed to such replusiveness. "Do not turn away, for we are to be mates. Look..." and she turns her face, and there is a reflection in the gleaming surface... a reflection of something with an inner light, magnified by hundreds of surfaces, flashing... realization hits... the pain that was endured allowed for this, allowed for the beauty inside to show through.
The mating takes place, leaving a feeling of contentment, joy, starting a new life of adventures together.
