About LadyBlue aka Crystal In Which We Learn About A Very Strange Person... People always want to know about you - who you are, what you do, what you like, what sort of person you are. That's why this page is here, to satisfy the curiosities of those who want to know. If you weren't curious, then why are you bothering reading this? Words - that's all most of you really have to get to know the person that I am. Words, typed on a computer screen, sent via some mysterious way to a server who serves up the pages whenever you click on the link. Words. Many people use this medium to portray someone that is larger than life - something more than who they really are, or something they really aren't. This isn't me. If anything, in this online world, I tend to be more myself than anywhere else. Anonymous faces, not having to think about what others might do or say. This is my own little corner, my own little world, this is the place where I make the rules, and if people don't like it, they don't have to be part of my kingdom. (In my kingdom, many things are illegal - such as green peppers, eyebrows, and those annoying subscription cards they put in magazines.) I haven't told you much about me yet, have I? Look how much space I've wasted already ... Anyway, online I tend to go by many names. "LadyBlue" may be the most common - however, the name IS quite common, so I've taken to going by "Luiniel" or "LadyLuiniel" a lot more. ("luiniel" means "blue star" in one of Tolkien's elvish languages). Most people just call me "Blue" (which I've grown quite fond of, and find myself using in "real life" situations some times even...) ; sometimes I use my real first name "Crystal" - which many people shorten to just "Crys" (pronounced like "Chris" or "Kris"); or other various nicknames like "BlueAngel", "Wedgie", "Ble" - Mica even calls me "IndigoNebula" sometimes, though it's rather long and cumbersome. :) As for where I'm from - well, that is a long and convoluted story. I've lived many places, mostly in the United States - born in Japan; lived in California, Colorado, Utah, Alaska, Guam, Hawaii - and these are just all the ones I can remember. In June of 2006 I moved to England and it was the best decision I've ever made. I love to read. Have I mentioned that yet? Robert Aspirin is an eccentric genius - though, the way he tends to "fob" off his series' onto other authors really perturbs me at times. But, his "Myth Adventures" and "Phule" books are brilliant, and I've decided that I could be stranded on a desert island with these books for company. Piers Anthony is another favorite author of mine. My online name "LadyBlue" comes from his "Apprentice Adept" series. I also enjoy the Harry Potter series, and once belonged to an extensive fan community/school simulation called Hogwarts OnLine (HOL). I used to be a professor and ran two classes for the school simulation, Survey of Ancient Magic and Dreamscapes, plus a couple of other projects with my dear friend Sir Pat (Michael). I met many of my very close friends through there, not to mention the love of my life, Peter. For almost two years, I had a World of Warcraft obession/addiction, but quit playing/paying in November of 2006. My main character was named Lapis, a dwarf priestess, but I also had a multitude of other characters/classes. I like many other sci-fi/fantasy type things as well. Especially Firefly, a show created by Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which I've never actually watched *ducks and hides* But I plan to as Peter has all the seasons on DVD :) ). Even though it was a prefectly brilliant show, Fox, in it's great wisdom *coughNOTcough* decided to cancel the show and aired only 10 episodes - out of order, I might add. So, Joss worked his magic, and now instead of a show, we got a MOVIE, which was called "Serenity" - you may have heard of it. :) Oh, I also enjoy Star Wars (novels and movies) and Star Trek (Voyager is my favorite series). Mostly I watch comedy, when it comes to movies, and listen to a wide variety of music - but I love stuff with high energy - I can't dance, but I love to anyway. :P I have a couple of main hobbies, but my passion is creating graphics with Paint Shop Pro. I also do crafts (mostly paper crafts) and am trying to set up a business selling handmade paper from around the world and supplies for card-makers and scrapbookers. My favourite colours are deep, rich shades of green - hues that lean towards blue. I love the rain, nature, waterfalls, and starlight nights. I love to laugh and act silly - and having friends that enjoy the same. I dream of writing lyrics for songs, and swimming with dolphins one day.  |
